How the quality slider works
- 0.90–1.00 — archive quality, minimal savings.
- 0.75–0.85 — the sweet spot for photos on the web; most people cannot tell the difference.
- 0.50–0.70 — small files for thumbnails, previews and chat.
- Below 0.50 — visible blocking; only for extreme size limits.
Pick the right format
- JPG in → JPG out — JPEG is already efficient for photos.
- PNG in → untick "keep original format" to convert to JPG and flatten transparency onto white; this is where the biggest savings come from.
- WebP in → WebP out — already compact, but the slider still trims bytes.
